Ground nutmeg is ideal for baking and it is a traditional spice used in cakes & gingerbread. In savoury foods, a small pinch of nutmeg will lift and deepen flavours, and it is essential in a Bolognese sauce. A pinch of nutmeg is also wonderful in Bechamel and cheese sauces. And a good sprinkle over the top of a homemade rice pudding before you put it in the oven will transform it! It is important to store ground nutmeg in a cool, dry & airtight container and ideally to use it within 6 months of purchase as the true flavour deteriorates quickly.
