We’re really excited about this new blend, which uses double fermented soy powder to give you the easiest way to make an authentic Japanese Teriyaki. Teriyaki is one of the most popular cooking styles in Japan, combining soy and other spices to marinade chicken, fish, beef or veggies which can then be grilled or stir-fried. (Although the method is not commonly used in Japan, teriyaki also works really well for roasting or braising in the oven.) Being soy-based the blend is packed with umami (flavour), which mingles with nutty sesame, sweetness from sugar and punchy ginger and garlic. The sugar also gives your cooked food that wonderful caramelised colour and flavour. Teriyaki is best used by mixing a teaspoon or two of the blend with a little water (just enough to make a liquid), then marinating food for an hour or two before cooking. The blend can also be used dry, and away from actual Teriyaki it can be used to give a bit of oomph to any stirfry, and it makes a great base for an Asian-style salad dressing. We’re thrilled with this blend, and we’ll be using it a lot this Summer!
