Pasilla Chilli, paste
A new addition to our range of Mexican chilli pastes, this one stars the Pasilla. Made by Especia Chillies in Mexico, it is free from artificial flavours and additives, consisting of 87% ancho chilli combined with onion, garlic and sunflower oil. The dark, almost black Pasilla is made by drying the Chilaca chilli. Its flavour is slighly fruity with hints of liquorice, and they have a moderate heat. The paste is especially good used in sauces or salsas, and can be used as an ingredient in the classic Mole sauce, which also includes chocolate.
