Orange Blossom Water
Middle Eastern and North African cookery is so delicious because it bears aroma in mind as much as taste, in both sweet and savoury dishes. This is one reason why orange blossom water is in important ingredient in both. A byproduct of distilling oranges for their essential oils, our orange blossom water is clear and powerfully fragrant, and is especially effective in sweets, cake and pastries. Its sweet, floral orange flavour gives a lovely edge to these, and can be used in combination with fresh oranges and their juice, where it just lifts the natural flavour of the fruit. In savoury cookery this can be used to flavour rice or couscous, and a teaspoon added to a tagine will bring a sweet, deep balance to the dish. It can be used in cocktails (for example in a gin fizz), or simply to hot water as a digestif. Our orange blossom water is produced by Mymoune in Lebanon, a family-run artisanal business.
